I can see that you have spent some time thinking about this from many angles.  Like you, I don't have any solutions either.  However, I think that our nation - both private industry and government - must develop many sources of energy instead of picking one and focusing on it.  I think that we should immediately begin exploring for more off-shore oil.  We should try every means to harness solar, wind, and ocean energy.  Individually, not one of these is enough.
