We need to be sure that our programs provide incentive to work.  Too often I have heard people say, "I can't afford to get a job."  There needs to be more separation between welfare benefits and the benefits of working.

This may be a social security issue, but it is amazing how many people get accepted for disability payments while still able to do nearly anything they want to do.  One person in a community near here started getting disability payments due to a legitimate back problem.  With three years six other people who live within a stone's throw also developed bad backs and got the same payments.  Fraud!
